Dress Review

The following exert is from an instagram post from one of our customers.  It's worth the read as so many of us have struggled with body issues.

"They say the Year of the Snake is one of reflection.  On that note - I am posting these photos not only as a reminder of the event but also, how I felt.  More specifically.....how I felt in that dress!  When I tried this dress on, I was not convinced it would fit, let alone that it would be flattering, etc, etc.......all the things I have been telling myself for decades.  As a plus-sized kid, then teenager, then adult, buy clothes has always been a stressful experience - it is for many of us, regardless of our size or shape.  I distinctly remember being in change rooms as a child praying that things would fit.  But the moment I stepped out of the change room in this gown and looked in the mirror, that childhood trauma I have been carrying all these years disappeared.  I was in shock!  How could I actually fit this dress?  How could I look so gooooooood??  And also, does it have pockets??!

So this account has quickly become a Blackbird Studios.ca fan page, not just because I think their dresses are beautiful, but because I am so happy that they really, truly design clothes for all.  This isn't just about "looking good" but about feeling goood about oneself, felling included, and feeling empowered - we can all use a little help in those areas sometimes!!"
