Fascism arose during the 1920's and 30's, partly out of fear of the rising power of the Working Class. Common themes among the fascist movements include authoritarianism, racial and religious nationalism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, and Naziism. The musical CABARET was a warning againt the seductive power of distraction, the dangers of apathy and the perils of looking away when history demands that we look closer. For those of us who are finding it difficult to mentally navigate during this barrage of non-stop dire ridiculousness on a daily roller coaster we seem to be riding, we're personally embracing deeper connections to general weirdness, nature, art, science, celebrating queer joy, black joy, indigenous joy, and friendship. There is so much more good in this world than not. We feel lucky to make art.
